Some places stay with you forever.
For our family, Italy has always been more than a destination. It is part of who we are.
Italy Was Always Part of the Story
My father’s family came from Abruzzo and the province of Caserta in Campania. My mother’s family traces its roots to Sicily. I am second-generation Italian-American on my father’s side and third-generation on my mother’s. Italy was never simply a place on a map; it was woven into our family history.

A Life in Italy
In 2002, work gave me the opportunity to move to Italy. I lived outside Milan for two years and spent weekends traveling through much of northern and central Italy. Tuscany and Umbria were always the regions that stayed with me most.
Our oldest daughter was born in Milan. When we eventually returned to the United States, I made a promise: one day, I would return to Italy.

“One day, I would return.”
Twenty-one years later, that day arrived. The Return
In July 2025, I returned with my oldest daughter to revisit Tuscany and Umbria. Then we arrived in Campecolle.
The first five minutes were unforgettable: the sweeping view across the valley, the silence, the peacefulness and the beauty of the stone architecture. The sunflower fields on the drive in, the small-town rhythm and the genuine warmth of the people all said the same thing.
This is authentic Italy.
Everything Seemed to Align
My daughter fell in love with the property immediately. Then came a series of connections that made the moment feel almost meant to be. The owner was from Utrecht, where my daughter had studied during college. The couple’s close friends and next-door neighbors in the Netherlands were from Dallas.
Halfway around the world, the connections felt improbably familiar. The views, the architecture, the pool and the valley had already drawn us in. The rest felt like kismet.

A Name—and a Place—Worth Preserving
Casa Luna was already the name associated with the property, with recognition of its own. We chose to preserve it, just as we hope to preserve what makes this valley special: its quiet, its authenticity and its sense of belonging.
Today our daughters love the pool, the views, the Wednesday market in Umbertide, gelato in town, Antognolla and the simple peacefulness of being here. We are honored to share Casa Luna with guests looking for the Italy we thought might no longer exist.
Some places are visited. Others become part of your family’s story. We hope Casa Luna becomes part of yours.Reserve Your Stay
